This medication is usually prescribed for respiratory infections, bladder infections, skin infections, infections of the gastrointestinal tract, sexually transmitted diseases, malaria, Q fever, and Lyme disease.
The cause of Lyme disease is a tick bite that carries a bacterial virus. Lyme disease is usually characterized by a red circular spot where the tick has bitten. If you have been bitten by a tick and you have symptoms or see a red spot at the site of the bite, then go to your doctor right away. The doctor then prescribes doxycycline as a treatment for Lyme disease. This antibiotic kills the bacteria associated with this disease.
Doxycycline is often used as a course, the duration of which depends on the type of infection. It involves tablets that must be swallowed whole with at least half a glass of water. Soluble tablets should be dissolved in a glass of water. To prevent stomach complaints, it is wise to take this medication during or after meals.
The use of doxycycline can have some side effects depending on individual sensitivity and the amount of doxycycline used.
