The tick prevention was not effective enough
Even though you protected yourself well and followed all tick prevention rules, something still went wrong. How do you treat a bite then?
- Use a special tick tweezer to grasp the tick. (Do not touch the tick with your hands).
- Try to pull the tick out of your skin in one go, so that there is no risk of leaving parts of the tick in the skin.
- Do not anesthetize the tick beforehand, as this may cause the tick to regurgitate the contents of its stomach. This content can then enter your bloodstream.
It is also important to note the date you were bitten and the location of the tick bite on your body. This way, you can monitor the development of any symptoms. If you experience any symptoms, consult your doctor.
