Survival is a joyful activity, but what many people do not take into account is that there are unexpected dangers lurking behind this activity. Survival is undertaken in green locations surrounded by trees, bushes, plants, and grass, where many insects like ticks live. Ticks are mainly found in these areas and love to latch onto human skin. A tick bite is easily incurred while surviving. Therefore, it is wise to wear survival clothing with tick-repellent properties. This way, the tick has no chance of reaching the body and spreading diseases.
Ticks pose a problem during outdoor activities. Each year in the Netherlands, an average of one million people are bitten by a tick, and all of these people have a chance of contracting Lyme disease. This disease is spread by ticks and can cause disorders of the joints, skin, nervous system, and heart. In rare cases, Lyme can even be fatal. It is, therefore, vital to avoid risking infection by preventing tick bites.
